The strategies

Traffic management is a high-risk industry and therefore requires careful consideration when developing the best possible approach on how to implement traffic management strategies in each individual situation.

- Ensure appropriate clearances from the nearest edge of a lane carrying traffic for worker and traffic safety
- Provide a sufficient number of traffic lanes to accommodate vehicle volumes
- Ensure delays are minimized
- Arranging the required approvals to perform traffic management services e.g. Road Authority approvals
- Ensure all road users are managed including motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, people with disabilities and people using public transport
- Ensure work activities are carried out sequentially to minimize adverse impacts
- Provisions will be made for works personnel to enter the work area in a safe manner in accordance with safety procedures
- All entry and exit movements to and from traffic streams shall be in accordance with the requirements of safe working practices
- Ensure all traffic management personnel have the relevant qualifications and training
- Maintain safe work practices by ensuring all personnel are equipped with PPE
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with the traffic environment
- Keeping traffic management records of site inspections, temporary speed zone installations, digital images go the worksite and audits
- Conduct traffic management services in accordance with quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Ensure internal and external bodies audit the TMP and worksite (where required) prior to implementation
